Explanation By Moran Campaign Manager Dan Lucas Of Moran's Comments Appears And Then Disappears On The Moran Website. Was Pakistani Reporter Present At Talk? Moran campaign manager Dan Lucas attempted some preemptive damage control today concerning a March 2, 2002 article in the Pakistani newspaper The Daily Times which paraphrased James P. Moran, Jr. as having stated that 'it was because of the machinations of special interests that Iraq was attacked.' A statement by Lucas appeared earlier today (March 3, 2004) on the Moran campaign website, but mysteriously was taken down a few hours later. I understand and have no problem with the Moran website deleting my own posting which raised the issue. But why would a campaign manager take down his own posts? As of 6:30 pm on 3/3/03, all that is left of whatever Dan Lucas had to say is the cryptic message:
Dear Friend: Please read my recent post on this issue. I hope it will clear the air for you about "special interests". by Dan Lucas on Wed Mar 3rd, 2004 at 04:31:35 PM EST"
Dear All, I was at the meeting on Saturday and while I am not a member of Cong. Moran's district nor have had any personal contact with him before, I felt compelled to offer a thought on the above... Mr. Moran's comments on Iraq were brief and centered on the fact that the rationale the Administration used for leading us to war have been demonstrated to have been false (WMD, imminent threat, etc.) I didn't take notes myself, but my recollection was that the concerns were addressed toward the way in which the war was pursued by the Administration. To try to construct some other meaning there, from my perspective, is futile, counterproductive and dishonest. Since first reading this piece this morning, however, I'll have to admit that I've done some research (to see if I just missed something in his talk) and have been told that the authors of the quoted article were not in attendence at the meeting and could not have heard these words. I suspect an innocent misinterpretation of someones incorrect recollection of the discussion is to blaim. Regardless, the quote above does not represent the spirit of Congressman Moran's dialogue, does not represent the message conveyed and if my understanding is correct, doesn't represent the facts. To use them otherwise is inappropriate. Dave" Is Khalid Hasan the Daily Times reporter who may or may not have been at the Abshaar Restaurant? < | >
