Jim Moran Backs Out Of Previously Agreed To Candidates Debate
Posted by Jonathan Mark on Monday, March 01, 2004

Alexandria Young Democrats advertised Rosenberg-Moran debate, but Moran campaign manager claims event 'was never scheduled with my office.'

The Alexandria Young Democrats' website is currently posting the following as of 7pm 3/1/03:
    AYD Moran/Rosenberg Debate

    Saturday, March 13, 2004

12-2pm, Moran-Rosenberg Debate sponsored by the Alexandria Young Democrats at Hammond Middle School. Please join us for this free debate, the first during this Congressional Primary Season! Special guests moderators include the presidents of the Arlington and Fairfax Young Democrats and two others to be announced at a later date! For more information, please contact Greg Roberts at pyramus12@yahoo.com. Questions from the public will be accepted prior to March 13th at the email above and will be screened by the Debate Organizational Committee

However, Moran's campaign manager Dan Lucas issued the following statement on March 1st on the Moran website:
"The March 13th debate was never scheduled with my office. However, two additional debates have been set for April 18th, which is a Sunday, and should allow all who wish, to attend."
What is apparent from this statement is that Mr. Lucas is proposing that his boss debate exactly twice from now on, with the last debate occurring seven weeks before election day. And Lucas then declares that these two debates (scheduled on the same day, lest anyone should wish to attend both) are sufficient.

We've all heard of stealth bombers. Well, James Moran, Jr. is the stealth incumbent.
