March 4 "Moran For Congress Meetup Day" Cancelled Due To Lack Of Interest
Posted by Jonathan S. Mark on Sunday, February 29, 2004

Only one person signed up.

In yet another sign that Moran is an incumbent who lacks popular support, the "Moran For Congress Meetup Day" at Meetup.com has been cancelled. As Meetup.com puts it:
"Meetup with other local supporters of Rep. James P. Moran, Democrat from Virginia, to discuss organizing and mobilizing for the 2004 Congressional Election.

WHO Moran Supporters Worldwide. So far, 1 have signed up.

WHEN Thursday, March 4 @ 7:00PM (1st Thursday of every month.)

Not enough Moran Supporters near Washington, DC can make it, so this month's Meetup is cancelled."

Interestingly, the jimmoran.org website has links to Meetup.com, but not to the Moran meetup. While we are on the subject of the Moran website, someone helpfully posted on that website some instances in which Moran's webmaster has demonstrated his atrocious grammar and incorrect word usage. Here are some of my favorites:
  • "Come on Andy, GETS your facts straight."
  • "...divisive comments and one note campaign IS not helpful."
  • "What can you say about a parade that has everything from GENERATIONS of fire engines...to SHINERS RACING down the street."
  • "...presidential hopefuls will be OF attendance."
"Anonymous Hero" posted these examples to the Moran website and then concluded: "These errors make me question Congressman Moran's ability to surround himself with a capable staff. We need a Representative who will bring integrity, new ideas and good grammar to the 8th district."

Meanwhile, the Moran website brags about some party that was far more sparsely attended that the Rosenberg one I attended in Alexandria last week. The article states that:

"It is always great to see Jim "back home" where he started out in the great and now all Democrat-led City of Alexandria."

At last, something we can all agree on. We all want to send Jim Moran "back home where he started out." Count me in.
