Jim Moran claims "Saddam was brutal, but he kept extremists out of the country for the most part." The Alexandria Gazette-Packet's Nov. 26, 2003 edition included an interview with James Moran, who complained that there would probably be a civil war in Iraq if the U.S. left. His later joy at the capture of Saddam was nowhere to be found. Moran even states that "Saddam was brutal, but he kept extremists out of the country for the most part." Thus Moran absolved Saddam of the charge that Saddam had been an extremist himself. Most people other than Moran would say that Saddam's gassing of the Kurds, firing ballistic missiles at Israeli civilians and American troops, invasion of Kuwait and development of WMD made Saddam an extremist. < | >

"[Cong. Parris is] a deceitful, fatuous jerk. . . .
I want to break his nose."
—James Moran in the Aug. 29, 1990 Washington Post, referring to his opponent. | |
