Eunice Moscoso of Cox Newspapers corrects our arithmetic and reveals that Moran received contributions from SIX OUT OF ELEVEN suspected conspirators in the government's affidavit about the Safa companies.
His Dangerously Militant Allies, Including Abdurahman Alamoudi Posted by Jonathan Mark on Wednesday, December 17, 2003
Her 12/16/03 personal email concerns her 12/12/03 investigative article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution entitled "Targets of terror financing probe had political clout."

Hello Mr. Mark.

Thank you for your e-mail. I appreciate readers who keep us on our toes.

The totals we used in the story included contributions since 1990 from nine men — Yacub Mirza, Jamal Barzinji, Ahmad Totonji, Muhammad Ashraf, Hisham Al-Talib, Cherif Sedky, Mohammed Jaghlit, Taha Alalwani, and Abdurahman M. Alamoudi.

We also looked up Abdel Hamid Abusulayman and Omar Ashraf who had no contributions.

All these men are mentioned as suspected conspirators in the government's affidavit about the Safa companies.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, here are the contributions Jim Moran returned:

  • returned $3,950 on 10/16/02 to Yaqub Mirza
  • returned $3,750 on 10/16/02 to Jamal Barzinji
  • returned $500 on 11/1/02 to Taha Alalwani
  • returned $2,000 on 3/11/02 to Abdurahman M. Alamoudi
  • returned $500 on 11/1/02 to Ahmad Totonji
  • returned $3,750 on 10/16/02 to Hisham Al-Talib

Total: $14,450.

Thanks again for your e-mail.

Sincerely,

Eunice Moscoso
