Letter to Atlanta Journal-Constitution Reporters: Did Moran Keep Some Money He Received From Outlawed Safa Group?
His Dangerously Militant Allies, Including Abdurahman Alamoudi Posted by Jonathan Mark on Saturday, December 13, 2003
Where is the missing $4,750?
Online FEC records indicate that James Moran only returned about $10,000 of the $15,000 he raised from the Safa Group. You can read an extract of Moran's FEC filings at http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/expend.asp?CID=N00002083&cycle=2002

These filings show that Moran returned $10,250 to Safa Group officials in the 2001-2002 election cycle.

Moran returned no money to the Safa group officials in the 2003-2004 cycle (cf. http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/expend.asp?CID=N00002083&cycle=2004).

Moran only began returning Saar Foundation (Safa Group entity) contributions in 2002. Hence there is $4,750 of Safa Group contributions to Moran unaccounted for.

Here is what the records say Moran spent in the 2001-2002 cycle. All of the Safa Group officials had names beginning with A or B.
